The Enoteca IL SALOTTO, can be found in Colle di Val d'Elsa, in the medieval district at no. 31 Via Gracco del Secco. It was originally an old "tower house" built in the 1200's and then subsequently transformed into an elegant Town House by the local bourgeoisie.
When in the main hall of the house, known as "House when Giuseppe Giusti also lived" (famous 19 th C. Tuscan writer), you can admire the complex vaulting on the ceiling, enriched by five octagonal panels painted at the end of 19 th century depicting imaginary landscapes and decorated capitals with gold inlay. Refined surrounding from another time, made still more enchanting by an original flint mantel piece and perfectly conserved terra cotta flooring from the 1800's.
The hall is furnished soberly yet is welcoming, with furniture from the early 1900's that helps to create a warm atmosphere, perfect for savouring to the full the flavour and bouquet of some of the finest Italian wines available, principally from Tuscany. Our courteous hosts and wine experts, Paola and Pietro, will be very happy to let you taste them, of course appropriately in crystal goblets manufactured in Colle di Val d'Elsa. |
